I bought fish from there personally since I live about an hour away. I actually bought 2 kinds of dwarf pikes there. C. Compressiceps and C. Regani. All were healthy but I've seen emaciated batches from time to time. Most are wild caught and have not acclimated to dry food. C. Regani acclimates faster than C. Compressiceps from my opinion.
C. Regani IMO was a more peaceful and "easier" fish to maintain. I kept 5 of them with 6 C. Compressiceps in a 150 heavily planted tank with Angels, Festivums, Dwarf Cichlids, and deeper bodied tetras. THey will eat anything small and slender. The two species largely ignored one another but on the chance encounter, the Regani always turned tailed from the smaller but more aggressive Compressiceps.
Sexing the Regani is easy as the female gets a red belly, a little yellowish hue in the middle segment of their body. For Compressiceps, the Males have Striations in the Anal fin that females lack.
All were kept in my tap which runs 7.5 from the faucet but slowly goes down to high 6's given little buffering capacity. Temps were 82 Degrees and 50% water changes daily. All fed on NLS pellets, Freeze Dried Mysis, Freeze Dried Blood worms, and frozen foods. Took a whole for the Compressiceps to accept dead/dry food.
WHat size tank were you planning and what species?
