I found a website that sells LED flexible strips for a decent price. I was wondering if this would work in my 180 gallon. They are decently priced but still dont want to spend the money if it isnt worth it. Feedback appreciated!
I was thinking of doing a few strips of white and a few strips of blue since they come in 5 meter strips and you can cut them as you please. Are these lights any good?

If you want LED lighting, Arty's thread with his P setup had some nice big LED's that he bought for like $35 each. I would go with those over this type.

I would guess those lights would need quite a relflector to penetrate deep water. How deep is your tank? I have been searching for LED lighting to fit my canopy over my 30" deep tank. The Marineland double bright does not cut the depth.....I borrowed a Ecoxotic Panarama Module single strip from a LFS to see if it fit and was blown away by them. I bet 4 would do your tank for 400.00. Sounds expensive but they last 50,000 hours and use so little electricity and produce so little heat that they would save you hundreds eventually over bulb relacements alone. They light grow coral.

Yeah no joke guys, these 10 watt led light modules I found are super intense bright. I have two in my pygo tank and my tank is 24 inches tall . $30 each online and these wont burn out because of led technology. check it out. It saved me money.

I am thinking about the strip setup too. They can get pretty bright and come with a dimmer option. I originally looked at the website you posted, but found that these looked like a better deal. Remote, multi colors, dimmer, etc.

Below is a link to a Marineland LED review that myself and a few others started to discuss the light strips. In it I link a youtube vid that used a very small peice of strip to illuminate his tank and it looks great. I plan on ordering and trying them out soon. When I do, I will write a review on it.

Let me know how it goes myarboy. I will be watching to see if they are worth it. Those outdoor 10watt LEDs look impressive too and they are a great price. Only thing is I would probably need 6 or more to cover my 180 gallon with adequate lighting. And, I feel that shimmer affect could get annoying. Not sure. Can anyone speak with experience?

You ordered reef lighting with (presumably) enough PAR to grow corals. What were you planning to grow in this 180g?

Also, it's a retrofit kit, so you'll have to put it into your canopy or build one.

well the lights sit pretty high in my canopy so it should work... also I have plants in the tank... You think it will be too bright?
