When I was packing up my belongings to move into my new place last month I came across an item that had been stored in my storage shed/wood shop that gave me an idea. I'm not sure if it would work so I thought I would ask in here. It's the heater pad from under our old waterbed that sprung a leak 4-5 years ago. It worked great keeping the bed warm so why couldn't it work for a tank. I know it would have to have direct contact with the bottom of the tank to transfer heat. I know it would have to be a large aquarium since the waterbed was queen size and held 100-200 gallons. But it is thermostatic and the temp range is in that of a tropical aquariums. Just a thought!!!

Should work, my 10gallon in the window has a simple heating pad under it And its a comfortable 76 in there.

I hear people use under tank heaters mainly used for reptiles in planted tanks to get nutrients to the plants sooner or more efficiently

Interesting... Please let us know.
