I know tentacled snakes can be kept fully aquatic and are kept with fish, but how about your regular ones? Such as brown, red banded, etc

I'm quite sure I have a brown, caught it as a baby on the Chesapeake peninsula well over a year ago. It was 4 inches but now its somewhere like 14 and almost as thick as my rope fish, so I find myself thinking, if I could create a dry spot for it to crawl out onto could it live with other large aquatic preds?

Such as various polypterus, red wolf fish, rope fish and possibly a goonch cat (suchus if I can find em, hoping for a rutleus or lica if not, not the giants)

Water snakes eat fish. If the snake is to small, the snake will get eaten.

I do not recommend the combo at all.

Well thats pretty obvious haha, ive seen setups with rope fish and polypterus with tentacled snakes before so people do it, i just dont know about with an american water snake

it would be kind of hard to keep a water snake in a regular fish tank set up with the normal fish tank lids all snakes are escape artist without a secure lid its just a matter of time before they find their way out.

That's a valid point.

And I've run into issues keeping ropefish with my erpetons, and the reason I don't have any larger polypterids is because I'm concerned they might get bored and take a chunk out of a tentacled snake. My turtle has no idea they're not sticks, but she's kinda dumb, and I think polys would know (maybe by scent) that it's a living creature and therefore a meal.

If you are talking about something along the lines of a nerodia sp, they will eat anything that cant eat them. anything they cant eat will eat them.
