umm i dont know about that specific brand of plastic compartments, but plenty of diy filters (wet/dry) have been made using these cheap bins. i'm sure if you search for "diy wet/dry" you'll find some. g/l
 
Yes, I've seen many. As said, run a search. I've found you have to use various wording to get different posts about similar topics. The search option will be your best friend on here.
 
if i remember correctly someone used a heatgun and a bowlingball to get the drawers to sag in the middle to keep the water more in the middle... this may have been for something else though
