u know like the ones you buy
it doesnt seem like it would be that hard to make all you really need is glass and silicon right????
thanks

Not that tough to put one together,, but between the cost of glass, having glass cut, and silicone, you don't really save that much money.

Just finished last week... This one is sitting whilst the Silicone cures. Leak test later this week...

DIY tanks are not cheap. Between glass and silicone, the cost of this tank has nudged $140, Australian... The good thing is, it's the exact shape and size that I need. This will become a Betta barracks, so needed to be long and deep, but (relative to most retail models) not very tall. Construction is fairly straight forward, I built this right where you see it now, on the kitchen bench. Try to enlist the help of a spare set of hands, makes things much, much easier. As long as you plan ahead and take your time, all will be well :)

Good luck!

DIY glass tanks can be cheap as dirt if you're on good terms with the owner of a glass shop and can cut glass. Most of the giant windows at places like supermarkets and such are 1/4 in plate glass. If a unit fails because one side cracked or better yet seal failure that's a lot of glass cluttering up their shop that they can't do much with.
