Hi,

I set up my tank but then I increased the bioload too much and the fish stressed and died. I didnt know about the cycle and this is why they ended up dying.

anyways today I did the water test and was wondering wheather the cycle had started?

pH-- 7
GH-180
Nitrite-1
Nitrate 25
Alkaline- 50

Also, I had to move the fish tank because the floor in that room was going to be polished so I did a 30-40% water change, would this have fixed the nitrite level?

Has the cycle started? If it has, how much has been completed?

You don't list Ammonia levels. This is the first thing to look for when cycling. Ammonia spikes, then Nitrite, and then nitrate. Since you still have nitrite, you haven't finished, but I'd test Ammonia as well, because that's probably not zero either. Your cycle will be finished when you have zero ammonia and zero nitrite. The water change you did probably slowed the cycle down, because you removed "food" for the bacteria, and you're wanting to grow bacteria, so you'll have to wait until the levels get back up to what they were prior to your big water change to start growing that bacteria again.
