Just venting a lil but i notice lately alot of people asking dumb question like why cant i fit a tiger oscar, jack dempsey green terror and a common pleco in a 55. they ar only 2 inchs. i mean come on. if you would take 2 min time and google any of these u know that a 55 way to small for that kind of stock list. I know there is exception to the rule but not everyone take care of there stock like they should. for example i was reading that this one guy had like 2 oscar and 5 random fish in a 75 which can be ok but he says he NEVER does a water change. come on now thats like sit in your bath tub peeing and never chaning the water. I have been in the hobbie for around 15 years and i have made my fair share of mistakes. but come on, now days you google just about any type of fish your going to know right away at the least what size tank is need per fish. I dont unstand why people want to cram 4 monster size fish in a tank suited just for 1 then say well i have a emty 30 gallon if i need it. i guess some people dont realize that fish also need room to swim. heck even a prisonor in a 4x6 cell still get let out to excesize. Anywh0 im just venting a lil. thanks for taking the time to read.

I know, it just takes a second to Google. But I have made my fair share of mistakes. One time I put a puffer in with my tropicals when I first started out.

It takes time for people to learn, when I started I only had a 55g with 3 bichirs, a marble catfish, a datnoid, and a peacock bass, be kind to the newbs lol

Yeah, I have had a few impulse buys... But then again I spend all day reading about fish so I know if its going to work or not. But I totally agree, GOOGLE!!! I just recently did this when I bought a banjo catfish. I went home and looked it up because a lot of catfish get pretty big :]

Unfortunatly it seems to be getting more and more common as stores are able to carry more and more exotic fish these days. I always see people at the store buy fish because they are "pretty" or "really cool". I have managed to catch a few people and ask, so what are you putting them in and able to talk them out of it. I give my number to all the local stores so they can call me when people have problems or for when they have people bring back fish that are "too big". I wouldnt consider myself an expert, I've made my share of stupid mistakes too in the past, but I always tell people..."RESEARCH!" Its made me a hell of a lot smarter. Its the best words of wisdom I can offer. I tell myself, if I can help just one person, then I've done good.

Now if Im not sure I will come home, research, post, what ever, then if it's suitable go back and get it. But ya, I've made a lot of dumb mistakes.

Yeah there's been a couple of times that I've talked people out of fish. Like anytime I'm at Walmart and people are in the fish dept buying an oscar I have to give them a 20min lecture about tank size, water changes, and cycling. I think its wrong that pet stores don't know enough about there stocks to just blindly let people buy these fish with out question. Theres a place called pet bazaar and when ever you buy a large fish like an RTC or TSn you have to sign some forms stating you know how big this fish is going to get and stuff like that.

I try to do my homework before I ask a question . . . consequently, I don't really ask a lot of questions on this site . . . :grinno:

i do unstand that, but the ones i am mainly talking about are those who get 3-4 monsters cram them in a 55 then come on a web site like these and ask if they have room for another fish. experiance people tell them they are over stock, then u get answer like i dont see how 3 oscar are over stock in my 30 gallon or well my friend has 11 green terrors in his 55 and then they dont take the advise and a couple days later you see pics saying on the line these my new oscar i just brought. then a few weeks laters you read well my fish died and i dont know why. lol
heck now days even on alot of phones you can google or post in a form from. If you really want to get in the hobbie then you will take the time to do the research :)
