i've noticed in some African Cichlid tanks there are some with not a lot of rock work, and some with alot . Is this personal preference, or ways of controlling territory issues ? which is better for the fish , i have a mixed species tank , zebra , kenyi , red empress, peacocks and bumblebee's thanks !

Well African cichlids usually need a lot of places to hide do to the aggression of some of your cichlids. It is usually good to have more than a couple of cichlids so they aren't so territorial..

I've always overstocked and provided a lot of rockwork to curb aggression issues and it's worked for me. With mbuna I think you either need to have too many territories or none at all.

I am no Cichlid expert but I do have an abundance of rock and wood for hiding places. I have never seen anything that appears to be damage on my cichlids from aggression. When I do a big tank cleanup and things get moved the big fish stake their territory first.

I have never kept female cichlids... women just cause problems in my experience. :irked:
