New member and want to say thanks in advance for any help, heard this site was helpful on some you tube videos. In the process of buying a 320 gallon freshwater tank, 8ftX2ftX32" tall. I will have a total of 3 FX5s but would like to keep one for another tank, I was planning on using 2 initially. I didnt realize the tank was already drilled, has a hole in the center of each end of the tank. The guy im buying it from has 1 fx5 hooked to the bulkheads instead of the normal over the back hoses. He said I should just add a T and run 2 FX5s that way. But then you have an 8 foot gap between suction and return, not sure if that is a problem or not. I am also willing to go with a sump if thats going to make a difference, going with the 2 FX5s is my preferred route. I can run them inline to the bulkheads or run the hoses over the back. Just looking for some advice, have a 18" red tail, 20" arowana, a ray and about 5 other 10" -12" fish Thanks

Sump, and a freshwater drip. That way you don't have to do water changes anymore.

Ive never had a sump before, ive done some research and watched videos so I have an idea but I really dont know where to start, what size sump would you recommend? How would I not have to do water changes?

For a sump go as big as you can most will say. With your style I would look at going with a centered pump and your filter media on either side which will cut down on plumbing and add will give you the option of a refugium on one side. For not doing water changes you add a drip system which adds water constantly into the top of your tank threw a ball valve or a valve of some sort to regulate water flow and drill your sump as an overflow for the extra water that is being added into the tank which you drain into a floor drain or outside if that's an option

All I have to do to add a drip system is build another room (or two) onto the house. I have started saving up :)

I just ran a piece of 3/4 PVC through the wall to the outside of the house, put a garden hose on the end of it, and ran the garden house to a gutter drain I have in the backyard. Sometimes I'll put it in a flower bed, or water peach trees. Wherever I wanna leave the end of the hose.

so going with the 2 FX5s is not going to get the job done? Would a 75 gallon tank serve good as a sump or is it cheaper the build one
