have a few Qs about my first DIY.....

i have recently made a trickle filter(i think thats what it is called), n i have a few questions regarding that...

1. How much floss shd i use......should i stuff it with floss.......
2. how many bio-balls n ceramic rings should be added...
3. when the floss gets dirty, then shd i clean it or put in some new floss.

the dimensions of filter : 2' X 6" X 10".....

filll up the trickle filter to the top with bio-balls or ceramic media, then put that filter floss on top.

Since filter floss is cheap, I'd just change it every 1-3 months

bio balls and ceramic rings provide the same thing (a surface for bacteria to build on) both come with a set of guidlines on how many you need based on the size of the tank and the bio-load that it supports. an alternative to floss is a filter sock. both work well depending on your application. You only need one layer which provides basic mechanical filtration. How far in your project have you gotten?
