Ross, thats a short body Paroon Shark . Its a freshwater fish endemic to Thailand. real monsters it gets to 3 ft easily. Theres a debate as to how they get the short body form. Some say they are bred that way, some sources say the farms purposely break the back of the fish to get that look.
 
nice I'am asuming they are legal then ..

Theyre CITES II classified and that means restricted import to the us.
You can still find them if you ask around but they are a bit hard to get.

The shortbody form is not legal in singapore ( sgp folks correct me if im wrong )
due to the process of making one. Regular Paroons are ok to import.
