I was told its a bit morose to have drafted a holographic will with an attorney...I am 23 and while I realize I don't have a ton of money stashed to be spread out etc. I wanted to make sure a few things went to my brothers
(I have 3 we are all really close) Just things like my cars, Money (Not a lot but I keep a working capitol and attorney retainer) and other assets.

Does anyone else find this a tad morbid or strange ? I work on roof's often three to 12 stories high and as we all know things happen. Traffic accidents, Fall off an extension ladder possibilities are endless.

Thanks guys ,

I do write up wills at my law firm.. and ya it is sorta morbid thinking about it... I'm also your age.. and I dont have a will drafted...

I would say that if theres potential family member you dont wish to give any wealth to.. then yes.. a will def make things finalized and sealed. I would def make one if i was working in a seriously dangerous job or if i have a wife or children who i wish to transfer my wealth to..

Dont feel embarrassed or morbid about it.. its life... Good to hear that your care for your bros so much.. ;)

Thanks a lot for the support guys. My brothers and family really were downers when I presented it to them (VIA Email because im on a special project in Sacramento)
IMO its not necessarily what you have its just where you think certain things should go under circumstances. IE My little brother (15) almost 16 is a car nut as I have always been and I would want him to have the trans am. Oldest brother 25 would make good use of my work truck (In my albums) . The youngest (11) most certainly my tools and camaro he would make great use of them he has an engineering brain no doubt about it.

Once again thanks for the support the decision to write a will has kind of cast a negative shadow on my life to be completely honest maybe even a tad bit of depression . I was just curious if any other young people have done so.

I really only have two family members I would leave the cash to (Its not a lot) My Father and stepmother. Otherwise my family can well you know..........

I am not a roofer BTW. I hang copper gutter and do roof flashing and sheet metal often especially on my current project.

i think its great that you have decided on a will. most people, especially younger people like us (im 26) dont have the foresight to make sure our families are sorted should an accident happen.
Im going to get one sorted because I have a wife who I want to make sure gets everything because its her that i need to make sure is sorted should i die. the rest of my family are doing ok and I am the youngest so i have no siblings to worry about.

I have have one drafted. It is important to me to make sure that I do not leave my wife or my family in a bad position. The more I work, the more I'm worth...401K and what not. If something were to happen to me, they would have enough to worry about....you know, with dancing on the grave and all.....

I don't have one but I should. you never know whats going to happend. It's better to be prepared.

Glad folks agree. Thanks guys.

What about life insurance, have you given that any thought?

I have been doing will's every since i was 19. every year i update it. I'm still in the army reserves and i travel alot. So a will is a great idea and a good habit to boot.
