I have a 360 gallon tank, with a Blackbelt cichlid, pink Fenestrata cichlid, Synsplillum cichlid, 2 true Parrot Cichlids, 2 Neet, 1 convict cichlid, and 1 Red Jewel cichlid.

They all range from 4 to 5 inches, I would like to add a 4 to 5 inch Flowerhorn, I don't know much about Flower horn , I just heard they are highly aggressive, has anyone mixed Flowere horns with some of the cichlids that I have mention above?

My Blackbelt , Pink Fenestratum, and true Parrot, are the dominant cichlids in the tank, I really want to a this Flower horn that I have seen, but I have never seen a Flower horn mixed with other cichlids, should I tank this chance?

Do you think my tank is already over populated?

I keep a clean tank, and so far I have no real problems, my cichlids looks healthy so I want to add this Flower Horn, but looking for advice on this, before I make my decision.

You should/could be ok in a tank that size. Why not go trimac and keep in natural species?
I'm not against fh but look much better in species tanks imho.

there shouldn't really be an issue in terms of aggression but this as you undoubtedly know comes down to the individual fish. I would assume with my experiences that the blackbelt would happily keep it in line :) in regards to the stocking it isn't going to overly impact the bioload assuming you have a decent filtration system in place. I would however agree with Justarn that imo the flowerhorn would look out of place.

I agree with the above replies. The only thing I would be concerned with is what will you be feeding it? If you will feed what everyone else eats, then it would be healthy with no issues. However, I have a FH and I feed foods that are high in proteins and Astaxanthin like hump head, starry xo, etc. this develops the kok and also promotes/intensifies the reds, pearls, etc. I would definitely not feed this to the other fish. Specified feeding in that size tank with those inhabitants will be nearly impossible. Other than that, I think you'd be fine, good luck and post photos please. Thank you

I didn't realize that Flow Horn diet was different, than South/Central American cichlids, hmmm... I was more concern with compatibility as far as aggression and also over populating the tank. I want to thank you for the advise that you all gave me :).

With Vukmir13's reply, I may have to back out of getting the Flower Horn due to the diet that vary from my current cichlids...

Justarn mentioned Trimac, If not Flower Horn or Trimac, I was thinking Lyonsi, although I really like that Flower Horn it was really pretty :). Or maybe I should leave well enough alone and not add anything else to the tank?

Just remember, the diet does not have to be different unless you are focusing on growing its kok and/or intensifying its overall color/pearling/reds. A FH can easily be fed what your other fish eat with no issues, it just depends on the results you are trying to achieve.

Oh okay :), what do you think about the Lyonsi?

I think Lyonsi is a good choice. Personally, I house my FH in a 90 gallon in solitary. Therefore, I think Lyonsi is a much better choice for the community.

IMG_0124.JPG I have done close to the same thing you said, I have a 210 gal 84" 24" 24" and the only other different fish was a large Chocolate Cichlid that bluffed his way into being dominate fish. Well the flower horn is beautiful showing off all day with just normal threats every now & then. The Blackbelt is a aggressive fish I think a female, the true parrot can hold his own synspilium gets along alright. But overnight Flowerhorn beat the Chocolate almost to death he found a crevice space between A large rock & the background. Anyway Flowerhorn had to go to his own tank , by the way I'm no expert but he has the same diet as the other fish a variety of hikari gold , vegetable based pellets, frozen krill once a week. And he has a lot of red & blue color and his water Kok is getting huge.

TexTanker, you have a nice looking Flower Horn, he looks aggressive... Is he still in the tank with your other cichlids minus the Chocolate cichlid?

Vukmir13 have you or anybody had experience with the Lyonsi?

What is the difference between Lyonsi and Trimac?
