I've just purchased a 75g tank that i need up and running asap. I have a 55g now with an established marineland c-360 canister and emporer 280. I went out today and purchased another emp. 280 to put on the 55g so that I can take the c-360 and install on the new tank without crashing the 55g tank. My question is if I install the c-360 leaving the media in from 55g how long before I can transfer fish? Thanks in advance for the help!

Seachem Stability, add per directions, and you could also transfer some of ur gravel or whatever substrate ur using into the new tank, just try and keep it submerged in water while you transfer, will help speed thing s up a bit

put the new filter on the new tank and just take the used bio-wheel off the out emp. so your new tank will have that BB right off the start.

what do u mean by ASAP are u talking like you really need it up today or are you talking like 2 weeks instead of the month or so it would take to fully cycle?

I don't need it today but want it to cycle as quickly as possible. I have sand and driftwood in 55g that I could snag to put in new tank to help out.

i would say with taking some of the old sub. and a used bio-wheel you should be able to cut it down to two weeks maybe less just keep checking your water perameters (i take it u have a test kit)

Yup have test kits for everything. Do you think I should add some rosy reds to help with bacteria? Its something that's cheap and will be ate up once transfered. Also, u think I should install new 280 with old biowheel rather then the c-360 canister?

If you transfer that much medium you could safely add some fish to keep it going and help it grow immediately. As long as you have decent turnover on both tanks plus established media for the amount of fish you have in there... it doesn't really matter.
