Have had this Pleco for quite a while now, ID please!

Hi everyone, I have had this pleco for a while and somehow he is still alive.. how? I have no clue but he is (maybe it's because he is impossible to photograph let alone catch?)

Anyways, here's the best picture I could get. His dorsal fin is on steroids... it's almost as big as he is!:



I think he may be a sailfin which would be cool because I bought him as a common. Doesn't look like a normal pleco to me though.. but I leave it to you guys, what is this thing! he must be identified for being such a survivor :ROFL:

Woot! Thanks, I wanted a sailfin because they're fins are so boss but at the time I was too poor for anything but a "common"

Looks like a sailfin, I have one but different color. How long have you had it and how many inches is it ?

I have had him for about 3 months now (got him Nov 12th), he is currently 4 inches and was only about an inch long when I got him.. and I have never fed him specifically because if I did he would just explode. I think he gets enough scraps from the predators as it is :P

(you can see in the pic he is going after some pellets the Oscar left behind this morning.. he never stops eating. Ever.)
 
Pleco love algae wafers and also zucchini.
 
Yep, Pterygoplichthys gibbiceps aka sailfin pleco. If you think its dorsal fin is big now, just wait until it has reached 14"+; it seems that their dorsal fins remain at roughly the same proportion to their bodies as they grow (the dorsal fin on my 19 incher is larger than my hand). Very underrated and interesting fish to keep. :)

Yeah, mine was never really into vegetables very much; seems to prefer driftwood, tilapia, and shrimp, although he will eat certain fruits (eg melons and cucumber).
