Hi, I changed 25 gal out of my 56 gal tank yesterday my oranda is not acting well, he is sorta staying in one corner of the tank in the bottom. Swims slow just not acting normal did I change to much, I had been taking 15 gal out each week I figured a 25 gal change would be good to get some fresher water in the last 15 gal water change went good this time after 15 it still had some stuff I wanted out so I took 25. Have I killed my oranda???:(

It is possible the changes in water parameters created by adding more water was a bit much more him. If you can aereate the water.

Give him some time. Check the parameters and make sure they are all in check. If they are, it may just be stress related. He may have gotten used to only 15g taken out, and once you did more, it may have spooked him more than usual.

My bichir usualy acts like that for a day or so after i do a water change, but i do 50% of a 72g.

Shouldn't have hurt him. I used to do MASSIVE water changes every 3 days when I had ranchu and they seemed fine. The only things I can think of were the temps of the new and old water the same? What about the PH? I notice that goldies are very sensitive to ph drops. Anyways keep us posted

Hi, guys he is doing much better, I did use water conditioner and the ph and everything else checked out fine he is back to normal and eating just fine now. I guess it just stressed him out some had me worried but thank you all for the replies

Not time- like any goldfish, give 'em food! lol

My fish all know when it's time for a water change- every weekend when breakfast is late, they know the gravel vac creature is coming! They go hiding! oscars and knifes hide, but my bow is starting to get annoyed enough to start investigating the vac recently...

yes I also try and do a water change once a week on the same day, not always the exact time but try to get close. I will prob just do a 25% change for now on around 15 or 16 gal instead of 25. All fish seem to be just fine in the 55, 56 and outdoor pond maybe one day I can get some more tanks lol I would love to have a 250 inside pond and some more 50+ tanks and a couple 100+ tanks. But for now only 55, 56 oh have a 20 but nothing in it at this moment its just so small I feel bad to put anything in it maybe later. Thanks guys
