Zup guys,

I got my self a Jardini about a week ago, its currently 6.7" (17cm). After buying it i heard that it's supposed 2 be super agressive -based on the common opinion and peoples exiperience 10/10 in agression when it gets around 11.8" (30cm)

- Question: does the agression start at 11.8" or before that?

I have a friend who has one thats a bit over 11.8" and it's not agressive at all. My LFS who sold me the jar have 2 jars in the same tank with rays and they are +20".

So, i just want 2 know what i can expect later when it gets bigger.

Tank mates are: lots of bichirs 7.9"-11.8", blackghost 14", irwini 10", 2x Channa pulchra 7.9"

So what do you guys think? Im having a hard time 2 see the bichirs in some sort of riskzone, also the irwini and the BG. But maybe the snakeheads?!

How agressive are Jars if u got a agressive specimen. Do they attak everything or just some of the fish?

there is no certain size a jar will become aggro. it just depends on the jar itself. but if you land an aggro one, you are in for a ride lol they will beat up almost anything it sees haha. when i had mine, he never bothered my gar and bichirs, but almost killed my silver aro.

mine is about 13in and is fine with gars and a rtc also a 3in oscar
he didnt like my 5in lmb tho. but all he did was chase him. i think the only thing he killed was a goldfish once. he likes to crush them up and leave them to die. doesnt eat them

:D so im in for a ride huh :P cool.
Thing is that i've had allot of diff fish species. And there has been people warning me everytime. Sayin that fish is like this n like that but it has always worked out for me so i dont know what 2 think about Jardini's. I just have 2 wait and see i guess..

Mine killed everything in its tank so he is very lonely now

Now this is interesting m8.

How did that happen? did u wake up one day and all the others were dead? do they just go total rampage from nowere and kill everything or did u see it comming? Indications like bullying a certain fish for a while then killing it and so on?

My jardini already picks on the P.senegals from time 2 time, it does however not look like its bad intented at all, no agression, no hard bites. It's more like "keep your distance" - so is this a warning sign?

I would like 2 know the warning signs, how it all starts off u know. AND plz do warn me, cuz if these bastards go rampage from nowere and kill everything in one day then i'll do my self a favor and get rid of the devil...

Really weird man, to kill other fish without even eating them.. But its cool that your jar accept other fish. I hope mine will aswell.

I have 2 tanks with aros in them. My grow out tank has 2 silvers, 1 jardini, GT and a few polys no fights....My big tank has 1 20" + jar, giant gourami, 3 clown knives, florida gar, and 2 pacu(soon to be moved).. The only fights are between the pacu and one of the knife fish.. My point is you'll have to trial and error but be ready to separate if needed.

Best of luck,
Chris

Its a hope and pray situation really mate.

Typically the Jardini will pick and relentlesly bully/bother the Fish of choice, till it dies then it will pick another.

Or it could be fine and it wont bother anything.

I think your Polypterus and your Irwini will be okay but you can never say before.

Ive mentioned before my 18" Jardini killed my 30"+ RTC i had removed all other tankmates and decided he would be fine.

I think the pulchra is the only fish that could possibly be in danger.. if you were a man and had a real snakehead it would be the other way around ;)

Yeh i wonder what would happen if a Channa Micropeltes met an aggressive Jardini

not very much I think.. probably less than 3 sec of action and then a running jar and then no jar.. not that I in any way promote fish cruelty but there is really no fish I see withstanding a ch. micro.. I have like most of us never kept an aimara but the keepers of those say they are insane.. unfortunately you american keepers can't keep the channas but it you could maybe we could get a fair comparison..

sorry amaro for derailing your thread but if you need someone to hold anything for ya if things would get nasty just gimme' a shout!
