My 6" Red Devil has stopped eating ever since it laid eggs (with no mate). The last thing she ate was her own eggs, which was about 2 weeks ago. I've moved her to my 20 gallon hospital tank and tried feeding her both sinking and floating pellets. There is nothing abnormal about her except recently she has started to slowly turn white in color. I've treated for internal parasites with the tetra parasite fizz stuff with no change in her behavior. In her other tank she would often hide behind the filter intake.
Does anybody have any suggest as to what I could do or what the cause may be?

Turning White? What color is she normally? Can you post a picture?

What your discribing is normal peeling which is not an issue. The stomach is sunken in and that's from it not eating. The why is what has me scratching my head. What are your water perameters? Test the water and post while I think about this a minute.

Possible if the eggs she ate had some bacteria forming on them that the fish now has a internal bacterial issue in its gut. I'm not sure if it can contract parasites this way. Maybe?

Could try some garlic on its food to stimulate what have you tried to feed it?

I wouldnt recommend this but when i have to do a last ditch effort to get a fish to eat before it kicks the bucket, i use feeders. (May i add this only happens when i try to convert from live to pellets) Mainly guppies or ghost shrimp. This might bring out the aggressiveness of ur devil and at least it will have some food in it. Now in regards to the reason as why its not eating? No clue. Sry hopefully it gets better

Thank you guys so much... It turns out my ammonia levels are completely out of control. After testing again the ammonia levels were 4 ppm. It's actually interesting my 55 gal tank was overstocked and the red devil was the only fish acting weird. So I got a 180 gal but even though the red devil was in most need, I kept him in the 55 to put him in the 180 gal last for fear of internal parasites. Thanks again guys and I was not aware that ammonia could cause my devil to act like that. People always say ammonia is not good but never really get into too much detail on what can happen if not watched carefully.
