a fish fart? I did today! It was quite comical, although I was concerned for its health. My daughter asked me if that fish was supposed to float or if it was dead. I look over and sure enough one of my golden dojo loaches was curved like a banana floating at the top of the tank. He's just chilling there, looking around acting quite normal, other than he couldn't swim down. I thought he had some sort of swim bladder issue. Then, he started expelling gas from his anus. He did this a few times, and slowly began to sink. Weirdest thing ever. He seems to be ok, he's eating fine at his normal spot at the bottom of the tank. Must have been some freak gaseous buildup. I just hope there's no bacteria in his system or something causing the excess gasses.
I should have taken a video...

doodoo occurs, with doodoo some gas must pass. I don't know about the floating part, but fish, at least some of them, do fart.
cories do it an a regular basis. they suck air from the surface through their mouth and push the leftovers out their butt.

Most of my top feeders do this. I used to have a green aro that was like clockwork. A half-hour after feeding him crickets he'd start leaving an air curtain of bubbles across the length of the tank.

My dojo was the worst for this too. It was a daily thing, usually multiple times. :\
