I'm thinking if shipping my fish. Has anyone shipped fish and how did it go? I know what I would need to do but I'm scared.

Shipped a 8 inch cichla azul to Nevada and it went well. I was scared that it would die but it made it in good health.

Ive only shipped crayfish and plants. I was scared too. The thought of shipping something always scared me. But after looking at guides, studying how others packaged and shipped things I tried it. Got all the materials, packaged it, and then shipped it off. Never had a problem yet.

Still have not tried fish, but I may try it someday. I know that with fish its a good idea to purge them for 2-3 days atleast. And smaller fish ship better than larger fish. Thats all I know.

You should do some research on shipping fish. There are many good sites that have great advice.

I have been doing research on it. Heres what I got.

Dont feed for 2 days up to shipping date.
Use tall bags with more air then water. make sure fish are covered if bags tip on side. use 2 bags or 3.
Use pure O2 when you can. (I would use fresh water in the bag too)
always use Styrofoam. Get a styrofoam box or cut styrofoam to fit inside the walls of the box. Make sure the fish bags will not roll around in the box use padding like news papper.
use heat packs in winter. Never put Heat packs so they touch the bags.

Any other things I need to know? Should I worry about keeping them cool in the summer?

Also whos the best to use for shipping fish? FedEx or UPS?
