hello, I went to register and it showed that I already had an account, ha! I've been keeping fish since 1993, a 38 gallon tank was my first and was just shut down for the first time during the holidays. That tank had everything from the small community fishes to a breeding pair of angels and was even a saltwater tank for a year or so... it's last 5 years housed my cherax quad crayfish whom we now lost, so I'm giving that tank a rest and am now turning our 72g bowfront into an african cichlid tank.
I need to do some reading, but mainly I stopped in to ask about Fluval canister filters (I had one about 15 years ago). I like the current that they provide. Currently the 72g just has two sponge filters (but I only had 5 small tetras in it, they're gone now). I can't imagine that would be enough filtration for cichlids and a messy pleco!
So that's where I'm at, if anyone would like to reply or maybe share some useful links to previous threads that would be very much appreciated. I have a very large castle in the tank, the two piecer and each piece was $60, it's nice, but I love the layered rock look for cichlid tanks... don't want to break the bank buying the rock, or break the tank with the weight, so I'll be researching that as well.
Thank you for checking out my post! Jess
