ok he thinks his mom is alot smarter then i am when it comes with fish just cause his mom had a 55 with 2 oscars 2 goldfish 2 plecos and some other random fish i forget, and 2 duel HOBS well one of the oscars died and my cousin said its cause they were fighting everyday, i told him, well duh its cause you had TWO OSCARS in a FIFTY FIFTY! plus other fish to add. they were fighting for dominiace and control of the tank and one happened to kill the other over dominance. so i also told him, did your mom do water change, no did your mom know anything on nitrogen cycleing or nitrite or nitrate or ammonia, no...... all she had her fish is for looks..... she compared to me has no knowalge of fish at all compared to me... heck she has 3.5 gallon with 1 tigerbarb and 1 other barb.. all full of algea.. well ill post more later.. so what do you all think in the mean time? ever have any family probs thinking they know more then you do? her compared to me. i research my fish and make sure there happy, her, she just likes them for looks.

Well, getting angry is not the way to inform or educate people on anything. Best try and explain things in a way that is relative to her way of thinking. It is not a contest about who knows more.
lol yeah you will always have people like that, its especially hard when they are older and dont research and think you are wrong and dont know what your talking about just because you are younger than them. just try and inform her in a non-accusing way and hope that she sees the light, or go to her and give her suggestion of fish that would be ok ini a 55g and still look nice. does she have any other pets like a dog or something. try and relate them to something like that and be like oh well you wouldnt keep dog locked up in tiny crate all the time in their own filth would you. some people just see fish as commodities and not as a life that should be cared for so try and have her relate it as an actual life that depends on her for care
not specifically fish related problem, but I ignore most threads. just though I would say something on this LOL
