I have a 29gal tank, with plenty of rock and hiding places and some plants that make up for good hiding places as well.
My rams are still small juvie's. I have 5 Gold and 5 Blue in the tank.

What kind of dwarf-style cichlids would mix well with the Ram community? Hopefully some fish that is peaceful most of the time.

IMO, rams are fiesty but couldn't hurt a fly. You can put apistogramma in the tank as long as they don't have similar colors. I had rams in a tank with curviceps, bolivian rams, kribs, and briefly a borelli apisto before it died.

If your keeping the fish in the 29 gallon, you probably shouldn't get any more cichlids. Rams breed often and I had 2 pairs that fought for space in a 125 so be mindful of a possible upgrade.

I think as they grow and mature and become territorial, you will find a 29G is nowhere near enough space for 10 rams. I have 2 female rams in a 29G, they are the only cichlids, plenty of decor and dither fish, and they fight over territory. They used to be pretty bad, chasing and nipping whenever they saw each other, but more recently one has claimed one half of the tank and the other the other half, and as long as they stay out of each other's way it's ok. But I think even 2 pairs in a 29 would probably not be a good idea, much less 5 potential pairs...
