Just setup my tank with dual overflows, and it ran all night no problems. Then suddenly a few minutes ago one of the overflows suddenly filled up as if the drain couldnt keep up with the rate of fill. I immediatly started looking for an obstruction in the drain tube but is is draining pretty much at full capacity. What would cause this to happen suddenly other than that? The tank has been running for about 18 hours with no issues like this.

No the drain is not vented, it goes directly from the drain to the sump about 2 feet. Im using clear plastic tubing so I can see if there is a big void in it. I think I may have found the problem though. Looks like the tank has a tilt towards that overflow. It is level front to back but from left to right there is almost a 1/2 inch slope! So it is forcing alot more water over that overflow than the other. Its been that way for almost 24 hrs and ran fine though, so that is what is throwing me off about that theory. Im headed out to get some shims to wedge under the stand on that side to level it off. Worst case scenario might have to drain it and start over. Its 350g so that would suck but if thats what I have to do then so be it.

at 350gals the floor might of shifted in that amount of time. that is really the only thing I can think of, that is 2800lbs of just water so add the weight of the tank, stand, substrate, and filters.

I recently set up a 240 and had a similar issue. Except the tank was so uneven that the overflow in the right corner wasn't living up to it's name. All the water was overflowing into the overflow on the left and the right one wasn't getting any water what-so-ever. I had to empty and shim it.

Is your tank on floor joists, or is your place built on a concrete slab? If it's on floor joists and it was level when you filled it, shimming may be the least of your problems.

No its on a slab. I would never have put a tank this size on a pier and beam type floor lol. Its kinda strange, I put a level on the tank and it is flat as a board all the way around. Almost perfectly level. But if I measure the water line from the stand up there is about a 3/16 to 1/4 inch difference from one side to the other. I put some shims under one side and got the over filing overflow to drop about 2 inches, but it still runs atleast 3 times more full than the other. :screwy:
