My problem is that when i get my siphon going from my overflow box to my sump the wet/dry's water level continues to rise to the top. The pump is not moving the water fast enough. What's the problem? I just got this wet/dry from my buddy and he never had that problem and this system worked seamlessly. What do yo think?

if you are using a standard over flow box. Then it sounds like you need to do some adjusting to your set up. To start, drain the tank down to where the water level is at the base of the drain slits in the overflow box. Then drain the sump to where the water just covers your pump by a few inches. Now start the pump. And if the water starts to get to low in the sump then add some. But it should start to drain back from the tank pretty soon as long as you have your overflow box primed good. Once you get it running at a stable amount. Then you can unplug the pump and see where the water level is in the sump after it drains. And then you know how much water you can add before you run the risk of a spill over during a power outage.

you need to add a valve to the end of the over flow to or to the out put of the pump to try and match the ratios.
on a constant syphon over flow as long as the over flow can handle the pump then there is no need for a valve. The only trouble you can get into is where the over flow is being overpowered and it can not keep up with the pump. And if this happens the sump will go empty and the water will spill over in the floor from the main tank. In that case you would need a valve to restrict the pumps flow output. To a point where the overflow box can handle it. Or get a bigger overflow box.

sounds like you have the water level too high in the tank when you start the siphon. if you can't adjust the level from which the water siphons into the overflow box, adjust the height at which the water drains from the box by adding a piece of PVC to the bulkhead that drains the overflow box

i've tried lowering the water level in the tank with no luck. The sump is still filling up to fast. this pump never has had a problem. Is there a better way in this world to siphon the U tube? i'm having trouble siphoning as well b/c the back part of the overflow box doesnt fill b/c of the hole to the sump. What do you guys do? So I was wondering if this is the reason why i'm getting to much water in my sump. B/c of my frustration with siphoning, i just placed the U tube to the side of the overflow box and into the back compartment of the box. i used a pump to force water thru to start the siphon. Do you think by not having the U tube in the front of the overflow box and the back at the same time it is letting a faster flow thru into the sump as opposed to if the front of the u tube was in the overflow box? I don't know what to do. Making me crazy :)

OK check this out...if the sump is filling too fast, then you have plenty of overflow capability.

The overflow can ONLY overflow what you pump into the tank from the return pump in the sump...

This is a need for some clear pictures of the system in operation...
then we can help you out...

u-tube has to go into the compartment of the overflow box that has no drain. if there is no box inside the tank, the level where this compartment overflows into the draining compartment determines the water level. if there is a box in the tank this prevents loss of siphon when the tank water level gets low.
