In my 110 Gal tank I have an odd problem following water changes. My water is crystal clear, I do a water change and then it has a white haze for 1-2 days. I understand this may be a bactera bloom but this happens every time regardless of if I clean the filters, vaccuum the gravel, etc.

I've tried pre-mixing my water with de-chlorinizer and then dumping into the tank, or shooting the water right in while adding de-chlorinizer to the tank, same result using both methods. Typical water change between is 20% but have tried going as low as 10% and as high as 40% (2-3 times weekly).

My 60 Gal tank (same room, same water, same maintence) doesn't have this issue.

Tank Specs:
110 Gal XH
Eclipse Filter/Light Setup (basically twin Emp 400s)
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 5
Amonia: 0
Ph: 8
Hardness: 17

1 JD (5")
1 FM (3")
1 Texas (3")
3 Cons (2-3")

60 Gal (48")
Emp 400 Filter

1 Jag (12")

Might need more filtration? Those filters might not be holding enough good bio to handle immediate water changes maybe?

May just need more bio filtration i'd add another filter atleast a sponge filter. What do you have in your filters at the moment?

Between the two filters its a total of 4 wide bio wheels (2" wider than an EMP 400), and 4 "D" size Marineland pad filters.

I've never had this problem before, it seemed to develop after the room air tempature went up (room tempature is 68-70, water is 79-80) and the humitity in the house increased (30-35% ish). Could this have anything to do with it?

Hmm how long has the tank been set up?

How often have you changed the Marineland D pad filters? Also what has previous stock been? Has the haziness been like this the whole time? Or just with your current stock?

my 180 does the same thing, and it has a ton more bio than needed. try not cleaning the filters when you do a wc, but a few days after, it really helps my tank stay clear. think its with my tank its so understocked, that a big wc and filter cleaning just removes too much bio.

I only change the filters every six months. I clean them once a month or so using tap water. I'll do 2 one week, the other 2 two weeks later. Problem remains consistant during weeks I clean the filters and don't.

I'm in the opposite situation. My most people's opinion I'm overstocked but I use this tank as a grow out tank and all the fish are smaller. I think they provide a good ammount of load and adding/subtracting fish has never casued any problems.

I will try offsetting when I clean the filters (keep in mind, I'm only doing half of my filters per time).
