Was at my lfs and was trying to find a way to keep my ph up in the ray tank. They said to use these. The're for saltwater but i read the minerals it releases and one of them are copper. Now i heard that copper is REALLY bad for rays. Is this a known fact, should i stay away from this stuff. I called the manufacture and of course no one called me back. Any help would be great. I know you all will reccomend the drip but our water around here is like GOLD. Thanks

I have read in articles and Ross' book Freshwater Stingrays it states to avoid
copper medications, so I would not use anything with copper.

i would NEVER put ANYTHING that HBH makes in my tanks EVER!! really low end stuff. their foods were recalled because of tainted melamine. dont do it!

just use a bag of crushed coral...

why do you want to keep your ph UP in a ray tank in the first place? they hail from the amazon where the water is soft with a low PH

Because im always fighting the ph and i know its not good. I would like to keep it at a steady level. Im sure its kinda hard on them with it bouncing around like that. Just trying to make it better for them.

The HBH Mineral blocks are designed for reef environments. Copper + Reef = Everything Dead. There is no copper in these.

I agree to just add a bag of crushed coral or Oolitic aragonite sand to your substrate.

is it just bouncing around on its own or are you fighting it with chemicals?

any chance your using those little litmus paper tests? any small contaminate can mess up your results with those, ask any chemistry teacher ever :P

crushed coral is you best bet. useing chemials to alter ph is hard work and expencive.

if you have a sump put it in there. i used to use a pair of ladys tights and fill them up and just placed that in the sump.
the last stuff i got is more like corse rounded sand so i just put that straight in the tank in with my substrate.
