My HBRTG is just recovering from losing 2 scales (healed in just over a week). I added a new 8" tinfoil barb to the community and I noticed the next day that the aro lost another scale near her tail. Is it common for an aro to lose scales this easily? :(

I don't see any that are raised but she may have hit the side of an algae scraper on the glass. The tinfoil barb won't leave the aro alone, constantly bumping into and following her like a lost puppy. The aro has started to snap a little at the tb which is giving her a little more breathing room.

Mine has lost a couple of scales high on his back from banging into the lids. Near the tail makes me wonder what happened in that case. If the barb is annoying the aro, I'm not sure I'd keep him in there.

It's a 314 gallon tank, 71" x 34" x 30"h tank.

if it has tankmates that cause it to easily spook, loosing scales wont be a surprise. is it the only aro? if so, i usually only keep slow hiding fish with solo aros. what else is in the tank? either way itll heal in time back to perfectness so no worries
