I recently got two fish that I thought were Silversaums. Their tail and dorsal fins looked silverish, not gold. Unfortunately, I lost the female to a very aggressive male. Now, the male's fins have slowely turned from the very light color to more and more gold. I posted pictures of these fish in another thread. Another member said that Silversaums are pretty rare, but I insisted they were Silversaums. Now that the fin coloration has taken a drastic change, I know I have a Goldsaum.

Is it normal for younger Goldsaums to have really light coloring resembling silver on their fins, or were my fish just really faded when I bought them?

I am not dissapointed that he is a Goldsaum because I like them better. I just purchased what I thought were Silversaums because I had never seen them at an LFS before.

Around here the goldsaums at petco have what seems to be white edged fins like silversaums but if you look carefully you can tell they are just washed out. I belive this is due to stress. Many people i know have had the same thing happen to them.

mine was like like that too i was disapointed cuz i wanted goldsuam but couple days later it tunred gold

Was bought as a white/silver saum and it turned out to be gold.

Feeding Krill will help your GT show more red/orange.

Worked for my FM and my old GT.

Got any pics?

Not the greatest pics. His fins are a little beat up in these too:

Thanks for the tip. I will get some Krill. Right now I feed him NLS, frozen bloodworms, and frozen brine shrimp.
