So, I walk down stairs, and I notice my 9" male motoro is all hunched up, and rocking back and forth..

I'm like WTF is it doing?

I have an open stand with no gravel in the tank, so I look under, and he's trying to eat a 4" Tin Foil barb!

I used a net and got him off the barb, and the barb is fine.. but like jeeze!

They only get fed 4 times a day!

Thats a ray for you. It will happen from time to time. Even if they are fed well, they just feel the need to stalk and catch something and eat it. Its their nature.
I had one of my Motoro's not that long ago who decided he wanted to eat my 6" bala shark fish, so he did. He ate the head rt off.
Sucks, but thats ray keeping..

My fiance thought it was hilarious, as I'm screaming "get off my fish you stupid stingray!!!"

I'm partial to my $1 tin foil barbs. :grinno:

I know what you mean. My rays come first, so I was o'well, nothing I can go about it, but then again, I liked my bala sharks. I had three to begin with, had one die young, then the ray got one a few weeks ago. (thats ray keeping for you) Now I have one large one left. Have gone and bought 3 new small ones. But still, you know how long it took me to get him to over 6". He was a nice big beautiful bala shark..

V .....Now he looks like this, or did when I found him .....V

This is the second time he has tried to eat one..

I think I am going to be moving them.. Yeah, $1 no biggie.. but I love my tin foils, and I would never want to put them in any harm.

I will go get me some minnows (from a store), QT them, and put them with the rays.

I suspect that Datnoids will be fine with rays though?

It really depends on the ray and the size of the tankmates. I have had luck keeping some things with mine while others will end up a snack. Never had any issues with mine and my tinfoils or silver dollars but he loves eating peacock bass and clown loaches and one time he had a go at my red hump geo. The geo survived the attack and he has not bothered him since.

:D
