Head Banging and Torn tail

Hi there
My 6mth old arowana suddenly became very frantic and kept darting around the aquarium and hitting its head against the glass every time I walk by. it's as if he's trying to come and hit me!
On top of that, his tail is partly gone, it was torn before and I checked with my fish shop guy and he suggested to treat the water with a bit of salt just in case. But now it has become worse and he's swimming with half a taiL! I have no idea why. There is nothing in the aquarium to tear it though. HELP!

Could be a fungus? Finrot? Are his other fins torn up also?

Check the water first ph, ammonia etc and put some stress coat with the aloe in it along with pimafix and melafix to combat any bacteria or fungal infections occuring. If the fins are really degrading fast or not responding to the melafix maybe can go with harsher antibiotic or fungal therapy but these are harsher treatments for the fish and mess with you biological filter.

As for all the jumping if the fish is sick or the water quality is bad he is going to be stressed and more on edge
