I woke up today to find one of my pbass all tore up, he is missing most of his dorsal fin, and his petoral fins are bloody at the base and his mouth is also a little blody. Anyway, for the last 2 days theyve been hanging out rite around the heater which is very unusual for them. when i woke up this morning about 1/3 of the glass of the heater had fallen off(i guess overheted and burned through the glass????) but my temps were at like 74* and they were starting to get little ich spots. I put in a new heater, did a waterchange(30%) and treated with ich meds. Could they have been electrocuted? Would that cause fighting ? They've never fought like this b4 just the normal chasing and occasional nipping. Is there anything else I should do? Did I handle this rite or do anything wrong? btw- my pbass are about 5-6", and other than temp all water param. are in check.

Thanks in advance-
Dillon

It is possible that they could have been shocked from it and freaked out injuring themselfs vs fighting. I accitentily broke a heater when rearangeing the tank and all of the fish freaked out and were banging the glass and rocks and since there was no lid on the tank due to me doing matinece one jumped out.

Sorry.. but what is a heaker?
LOL i meant heater, and I was wondering like if the electricity would hurt them, like should i pu them in a new tank and completely refill this one or what? I didnt know if the electricity like tays in the water or wut

When mine broke I just replaced the heater and that was it. Still have all the fish and that was about a year ago.

Mine broke while my hands were in the tank, I didn't notice anything but the fish freaked out. You should be fine. If not I guess I won't see you on here for a while.:naughty:

I would unplug it before you stick your hand in there... But if the fish are alive then it shouldn't be a problem.. but please unplug it.

the little guy didnt make it. All the other fish are fine now I dont know why but he was the only beat up one. The other one in that tank is swimming around like nothing happened.
