so I just picked up this poor guy. dude had him in a cichlid tank. obviously it didnt work out with the aggressive tank, his green terror got to him.

I put him in a 10 tank with pimafix and melafix but I'm not sure if that what he needs to help heal his skins/scales . I can basicly see the flesh.

he seems fine right now he was swimming around , I wnt to do what I can to give him a good chance of a full recovery.

Some people seem to be of the opinion that Mela and Pima are nothing more than snake oil but it certainly couldn't to use it if you have it on hand. The best thing would probably be to keep the water clean and watch closely for signs of infection.
I have some stuff called Bio Bandage for open wounds but it has to be applied on the affected area while the fish is out of the water....very stressful to an already injured fish.

I’m not familiar with those meds, I’ve never used them. But salt is my go-to when I have an injured fish. It has always helped them heal up fast for me. I also have bio bandage I use like K krichardson mentioned.
Keeping clean water will be some of the best medicine right now. Best of luck with him.

That looks like ammonia burn? I would just keep the clean water going with some salt, the meds cant hurt but I think they are rubbish.

I was going to mention that the wound does not look like something that another fish would cause.

It’ll heal up with clean water. Make sure it eats.

he had an African cichlid tank and I believe that where he had him. if personally never seen fish fight so I just took his work on what caused the damage.

either way I hope he heals and joins my other oscars . I'll try salt treatment and clean water. I will be moving him into a 20g tank once I make my double rack this weekend and water changes every couple days.

I'll keep this updated for those curious minds m thanks

That is a good looking O looking at the wound that is not from attackes his head and face and fins would be tore up before his side i would just treat with salt and WC

khis fins are pretty torn up too.

what's the recommended salt to gallon ratio to help heal ?
