quarantine the fish, provide optimal water conditions, use stresscoat or polyaqua or novaqua

To heal a damaged fish i use aquarium salt, novaqua and some Melafix. Works great for me!

i use rock salt for my fish if its sick.. or even if its not sick. i put 1 handful of rock salt in my aquariums once every week. (just to prevent sickness)

What type of fish are you trying to heal, and how did it sustain damage?

Depends on the nature of the wound, but an increased concentration of rock salt will help prevent infection while you medicate. If fighting is the cause of the damage, you may want to isolate that fish to reduce stress as well.

Has anyone tried the liquid bandage medication for wounds? I've only seen the adverts.

my cousin tried those liquids before.. but turns out its much better using rock salt. he told me not to buy any solvents of medication just buy rock salt and watch ur fish heal. for me i think thats the best way to heal a wounded or infected or sick fish. i always put new water + rock salt every sunday. works for me :)

I prefer either aquarium salt or canning salt, they don't contain additives. I am not concerned about the trace ammount of iodine in table salt but I worry about the calcium silicate that is added as an anti-clumping agent. As for rock salt, It depends on where it is from and what it is for, road salt is low grade and often contains adulterants.
