The most I can do is intersperse my comets and minnows with home-raised mollies and some guppies. I unfortunately don't have the space requirements to raise convicts. Is there another type of feeder that would be good to supplemtn my needlefish with? No success yet "training" him to eat packaged food . . .

What else is in with the needle. My needle learned how to eat prepared foods by watching the puffer eat it.
I tried crickets, but they got nabbed by the gouramis. The only other psicivore (sp?) in the tank (besides the invisible bumblebees) is the bichir.

what size is your feeder tank. You dont need much room for a convict breeder tank. like a 30 is alright.

I've tried frozen shrimp and bloodworms, and they are snootily ignored, even when the needlefish is hungry. I don't want to make him too hungry right now cause our 2 pictus and one of our gouramis are still a little small . . .
My needle nailed a piece of shrimp after the puffer was swimming around with it. I guess he thought it was alive. Whatever you feed (live or dead) keep it the same size.
Dude , there is nothing wrong with bye feeder at LFS , This is a method lots use when it
comes to raising "live eaters" . Like I said . It may not be the best , but do not panic ,
