heat issues

I have the heater near the intake of the AC110. I have the output of the FX5 near the AC110 also. I have the heater set at 76 degrees. The thermometer at the other end of the tank reads 84 degrees.

Does the FX5 produce heat? Or do I have a bad heater?

I'd go with badly calibrated heater.

Place the heater in a 2-3 gallon bucket of water and test for a day, checking temp every couple of hours. Change out some water with cooler water and check again. If the water comes up to temp and stabilizes just recalibrate the dial. If you really have the time, do this at 2 or more settings.

If you get fluctuations in the temp (more than 2*F) scrap the heater and get a new one (warranty?).
