Heat wave benefits

So its been 100 degrees or more for the last few days and still more to come. My a/c unit isnt keeping up. Thermostat is set at 75 but current temp is 85 ish for the last few days. Heaters are getting a break and fish are more active, especially the clown loaches!

Hello; My AC was off until yesterday as I am in the process of repairing some ductwork. It was 97 in the house in the afternoon. I turned the lights off. I have bubblers in addition to HOB filters. No fish losses so far. I have been stocking fairly lightly the last decade or so and find that issues like this and power failures do not seem to have as big an impact as in the past.

97 in the house??? WOW!! how do you sleep at night?? i think i would die. But then again you don't really have a choice until you finish fixing it. We keep our house at 72 at night and thats still pretty warm for me. Its gettin hot down here in Texas as well and it should stay this way for the next 3 months i'm thinkin. I keep the temperature of the tank around 76-78 so the heaters don't have to work very hard and the fish seem to be fine with it.

Hello; The 97 was a peak temp right before sunset. It cooled down overnight to around 75 F. I had the AC going last night after plugging a 6 inch hole in one of the feeder ducts. This has been an ongoing project. I pull the old insulation off the duct work, clean it or re-do it, tape and seal it with foil tape or mastic and re-insulate. I had one feeder section removed when it was still at a reasonable temp and had not gotten it back together yet. That section will be rerouted as it was passing close to drains, water pipes and the dryer vent pipe. I will get back to it tonight for a couple of hours when it cools down.
