Not sure about all the other MFK members out there, but lately in SoCal the weather is just hot!!!

I typically have the heater in my aro tank set aorund 78. But today I noticed that one of my aro's eye look a little cloudy. And her gills are curling slightly at the tips ( it has a issue with the gills when I got her). I tested the water and everything checked out. But I noticed that the temp of the tank had gone up to 84-86.

Did a decent size water change ( water changes are done every 2 weeks ), and checked the temp a few hours later and it was at 80. I dont know how long the tank was at the higher temps, but its pretty hot for the last few days. Got a chiller that will be set up tomorrow morning....

but im wondering if it was the heat that caused the one eye to get a little cloudy and the gills.... or would it be something else?

Thanks for your input!

Only thing I could think of is a ph fluctuation or dirty water. But u test your peramiters and they were fine and u did a water change. For the next few days try doing some more water changes to see if it clears up

To little info provided to give a reasonalbe opinion as to what the issue is. It's not the heat though.

It's not the heat. I live in Thailand and every year for at least 2 months my tank gets up that hot. On the other end of the scale it drops pretty low for a couple of month too. (I've never measured it TBH.)
IMHO if the temp change is gradual, and it's not too cold for too long, or too hot for too long the fish have no problem. I've never bothered with a heater.

my tank is in the garage...its been 110 degrees lately, water temp up to 87 at some points of the day, but all fish including aro has been doing fine...I'd check the water quality..maybe excess nitrates or you may have some small traces of ammonia/nitrite.

Yes our lovely Cali valley weather last couple days. My tanks have been staying around 80 indoors with no heater.

Your aro will be fine in 85F+ heat, just make sure there is plenty of aeration/water surface disturbance. I keep my 360 at 86F for the peacocks and my Arowana are doing great. My 240 used to get up to 91F on really hot days, I'd just do a 50 wc and drop the temp to 85F.
