I am not sure if this topic belongs here but i will ask anyway. I live in Melbourne Australia at the moment we are in a very crazy heat wave 40+ degrees for the next week or so has anyone got any ideas on keeping my water temp down i have 4 tanks in my room and it is impossible to cool the room Thanks

Duane

Chillers work well.

BTW, there are quite a few lazy americans on here that don't want to convert celcius to ferenheit. Would you care to?

i never tried this but a few different lfs around here in california advise up to keep a fan on the top of are aquariums so it can blow the water to keep it cool..they also said to keep an extra bucket of conditioned water near because it do evaporate fast on those hot days

lol an easy way to tell is on those sticker thermometers that sometimes come on the tank it says Ferenheit and degree celcius on each end

40*C would be 104*F

Cover your windows (or any outside light penetrating in), keep air circulation in the room up, the fan over the water is a good point... but will lead to higher evaporation, bottles filled with cool/cold/frozen water floating in the tank, etc.

I wish it was warm here so it'll cut the cost of heaters down. Anyways, the best bet is to open up the windows or doors to let air through the room with maximum flow.
