nahunta,ga
i just lost my hole pond from cold weather can any one tell me about a cheap heater that can work or if i can use a water bed heater

Sorry for your loss.

It would really help if we knew the size of the pond...:D

You can use:

submersible aquarium heaters... http://www.aquaticeco.com/index.cfm/fuseaction/product.detail/iid/22563/cid/4459

Pond heaters: http://www.koifishponds.com/pond_heaters.htm

Large pond heaters: http://www.pondsolutions.com/pond-heaters2.htm

Heat exchangers: http://www.aquaticeco.com/index.cfm/fuseaction/listings.categories/ssid/380

De-Icer: http://www.amazon.com/MANUFACTURING-INC-8001-Thermo-Heater/dp/B000637NQU

Water heater: (usually an apartment or camper size) with a circulation pump.

Use this to do the math...

Make sure it (they) are hooked to a GFCI receptacle.

A big NO to waterbed heaters. I've used them but don't recommend them for anyone. They 'hot spot' and burn out and can melt the pond liner (or hard shell).

ya i dont no how harse the winters are but de-icers usaly work thats wat i use on the ponds iv built

I cover my pond with contractor's clear poly (light weight) over a frame, use 1000 watt heaters and solar heater. the solar heater is connected to a pump that only turns on with solar panel and drains completely back into the pond once the sun sets that way no risk of freezing. My pond is about 2k gallons.

its 170 gallons i had a mayen chiclides witch are warm water fish and we had are first freeze and now i aint got them no more next year i want jds and i dont want to loose them. cuz it suck raisin a fish from 2 cm to 12inches and wakein up the one moring to see them hard as rocks

Well, now you know what you gotta do, get it done now so you can test it this winter so there are no mistakes next year. Get a digital thermometer with an external (wired) sensor and monitor the water temp. with and without the heater.

Looks like four 300w immersible heaters should hold it to 28*F, and you'll have the added benefit of redundancy.
