I am gonna have the heaters in the sump.

My question is do I need to have the heaters all the same wattage?

Can I get away with 900 watts 3XEheim Jager or do I need more watts?

I live in San Diego with doggy door but winters get a little chilly in the house.

Anybody use styrofoam on the top and insulation around the actual sump to conserve heat. Mostly my concern is my house wont be able to handle the massive surge of all my heaters coming on at once along with my giant electric bill close to 500 bucks.

I have 5 tanks.

Thanks experts I really appreciate it.

If you get a Ranco temp controller, they will all click on and off at the same time. It's hard to adjust them all individually to do that. I run 4-300watt visi therms in my 750. Hooked to Ranco controller. sump is 180g. I live in north east though so winters get cold Summer they barely run

Nice man they are on special on Amazon now! Are they easy to work. Sounds like the best plan of action!!!!

I got the one that I had to wire myself. I wired in a power strip so I could plug in 4 heaters. They are a piece of cake to operate. You can set your temp and then set how many degrees you want it to drop before heaters kick back on I set mine to 1 degree difference

This seems to be the best way to save electricity having them all come on at once for a short time then having 2 on all the time?

I was told if i get a enough solar panels to drop from that tier 4 SDGE status I can really save alot!

Thanks so much I really appreciate your post and help!!!!

Anybody else using these panels..

Solar panels are way too pricey right now. Your going to need panels that could handle up to 2000 watts for those heaters then maybe batteries and a control board.
Best going with some kind of natural gas set up. I'm planning on running a natural gas on demand hot water heater, pump, and temp controller.
Temp controller turns pump on and water flows through heater until warm enough.
This should be pretty cheap to run
