Hey guys,
I need some help figuring out exactly what happened to my giant trevally today, and subsequently the right route to take ?
So a bit of a background, I've had him for 2-3 months now in a 40ga growout/quarantine bare bottom tank. He's grown about 2 inches during this time, and is quite healthy. He is now roughly 4.5-5" head to tail.
Recently (last week) I had to relocate the tank elsewhere, and it took about 1.5hrs to move. During this time, it took forever to catch him as he was very fast. He did hit the glass a couple of times hard and made a 'thud' noise. After the whole commotion, it's been a week now, and he still hasn't eaten. Im guessing he's still stressed out. Though just yesterday, he mouthed half a carnivore pellet before spitting it out (so progress?)
This morning, I went to look at him (as I do every morning), and these 'burn' marks? Or something like 'necrosis'? I've been researching diseases and nothing seems to look like what he has? Other than a necrosis disease that primarily affects farm raised salmon.
so question is did he get caught between the tank and the heater (which is suctioned onto the side of the tank)? (I also touched the heater to make sure it wasn't burning at the time) Or was this something underlying from a long time?
please take a look at the photos for reference!
After my research, I proceeded to do a 50% water change and added aquarium salt. I'm thinking of adding stressguard as well. Just trying to keep the water as clean as possible. Water parameters are 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 10-20 nitrate.
What do you guys think? Do I have some sort of disease on hand? I have other tanks in the room, so I have to be extra cautious
if it is a disease, would it be bacterial? viral? How would I got about it?
THanks very much MFK!
