Hey guys I was just wondering if its difficult for you guys to keep fish during extreme weather. I'm from Hawaii, so the climate here keeps my water not too cold and not too warm, perfect for a lot of tropical fish. I'm lucky I guess!

I'm curious if any of you guys need chillers or heaters where you're from.

For me, no. In the winter I have heaters to keep the temp consistent and in the summer I have heaters for when I have the air conditioning on. My tanks always stay around 78-80.

I use heaters for about 2 weeks a year.

Borderline needing a chiller depending in the species during the summer.

I never need a heater but sometimes in the summer my water spikes up to around 90F. Can't really afford a good chiller and no AC in that room.. I was thinking a fan might help? Not sure

A fan will help as well as more surface agitation. If you move the surface of the water more it helps to cool the tank a couple of degrees.

Right.. I have a weaker power head in my 55 and two bubble curtains. Do you recommend changing any of that? Maybe a form of stronger aeration would help?

is that power head pointed towards the surface of the water? If not, just point it towards the surface to make a ripple effect and move the water from one side of the tank to the other.

Alright thanks, I'll double check the positioning on that. I also assume running the tank with no hood will drop the temperature but I have a young red finned cigar shark / mad barb and I'm afraid he'll jump out.
