I run 3 stealth 250s on my 220,one in each overflow and one beside the one over flow box.If your sump is glass or acrylic you can put on in the sump.

Howdy,

I have 2x 250 for my 220 gal. One in each corner.

It depends on the room temperature and the desired temperature of the water. In a 75 degree room, you don't need much wattage to keep the tank at 78 degrees. In a 65 degree room, you need a lot of wattage to keep the tank at 80 degrees. A good rule of thumb is 5 watts per gallon to keep the tank 10 degrees above room temperature. Since big tanks hold water temperature better than small tanks, you can get away with less. I run 2 300watt heaters on my 125 (4.8 watts per gallon).
