heater gaurds/covers

so what are you people without sumps using for heater gaurds i was thinkin about eathier cutin up an extra gravel vac tube i have or gettin some plastic mesh or somethin like that to wrap around it...any suggestions

I have heard of people useing pvc pipeing with holes drilled in it

hmm never thought of pvc ... if i use any kinda pipe ill have to drill holes in it

Why go through the hassle? You can get on for $5 or less anytime on ebay. Just type 'aquarium heater guard' in the search line.

I use something like above, just a plastic guard. It does the job.

ya i saw them but i couldnt find any that would fit my heater....i didnt even think to check ebay for them tho(wow i usually always check ebay lol)

I use the round plastic screen piece from the inside of the carbon containers that come with the Marineland Magnum canister filters. They float so I angle the heater so the plastic piece won't come off.
