yes, they fit fine. I use them on my ebo's.
any size will do, because when a fish crashes into your heater, its not the impact of the fish that breaks the heater, its the glass heater hitting the back glass of the aquarium.
so any of them will work to protect the tube from smacking against the back glass and shattering.

its probably a lot easier just to buy a tronic heater guard. they are cheap and they definately fit.

They have Tronics on Ebay but they're in Canada and then there is shipping to the US. I think that the 150-200w Tronic guards work because those heaters are 17" and so is the Jager. If i were to try and make one I have a lot of left over 1" piping from my pond project in which i could just cut down and drill a bunch of holes into
you might be able to ask your LFS to get you one, or they may carry them locally. then you don't have to pay shipping at all.
Go with a titanium heater, I just put one in my 125g and it is just wonderful. I bought a ViaAqua Titanium from Dr. Foster and Smith. Another nice feature is that it has external controls so no more getting my hands wet.
