okay I have 2 150w heaters and I have no idea how to use these things. As in I dont know what way to turn them to lower or raise the temp. heres a couple pics of what they look like. I know they have a temp mark but I cant see the line as to where it goes to show what temp i have them set at. do you turn the red thing clock wise to raise it and counter clock to lower the temp? or turn it to the right to raise it and left to lower it?

Can't really tell by the pictures there blurry but usually to the right raises it and to the left lowers it but not sure with those. Is the a plus minus symbol by the dial?

no I was looking for one but there isnt which I dont understand why. these are the heaters that came with my 150g so they didnt have the box for them. maybe ill email the guy and ask him

Unplug the heater, let it cool down, remove it from the tank and look for the manufacturers name on it.

I unplugged them and took them out and figured out how the dial works. The dial is a ***** to turn I have to use vise grips :/

then the heater is most likely bad.. throw it away and buy a different one. i'm rapidly becoming a big fan of the Fluval E series heaters. but the best you can get, IF you can get one is an EBO Jager heater. do a search on the site, i'm sure you'll be able to come up with a pic of one quite easily.

Okay thanks, I might take the one out of my 55g as a temporary solution till I can figure out whats going on with these things.

Those are Marineland Visi-Therms...

They are hard to adjust out of the box, doesn't mean they are defective.

This is true. I have 2 of these heaters that have been through hell and still work great.
