I bought a 30-60gal Whisper heater from walmart the other day and it says it's "easy as adjusting a thermostat." However, I have it turned all the way down and the heater never turns off. Going by a thermometer in the tank, it reached 92 degrees in there before I just unplugged it. I have the heater over an aerator tube that lets out a curtain of bubbles, would that affect the heater? Is it like putting a thermostat in your house next to a fan? The thermometer is on the other side of the tank so I'm not getting a false reading.
