In my 240g I had a 300watt heater in each overflow box. I they keep burning out though. Any advice? I usually get eheim jager heaters. Any suggestions on a better heater set up?

As far as I can recall, I've never had a heater burn out. I'd suggest one of the 3 possible problems:

1) you have an electricity issue which damages the heaters
2) you are very unlucky or buying cheap heaters
3) housing them in the overflow box is causing burn out.

On the last point, I am wondering if the water level periodically leaves the heaters uncovered, and that is shortening their life or that when a WC is done, if the overflow siphons most of the box, then that shortens the life.

Otherwise, I'm stumped.

I have considered these possibilities.

1. Its a new house and have no problems with any other electronics.
2. I buy eheim jager 300watt heaters.
3. I would imagine in the overflow box they would run more effecient as they have the most water flowing over them. When I do water changes I unplug the heaters and my filters.

Im really stumped on why the tank has only been running for 2 years

I have 2 theories here.

1. They aren't receiving enough water coverage to properly keep them from burning up. They need to be submerged 24/7 if on.

2. the enclosed overflow box isn't allowing for enough heat dissipation and is causing them to overheat and pop.

I have pondered with these ideas as well my thoughts though would be that the heaters are suppose to shut down when the water reaches the appropriate temps. If the water in the overflows got to hot would think the heaters would just shut off.

I would try moving them into the sump or the tank.

Sadly I do not have a sump on this tank. I am running 2 FX6's with the inlet connected to the stand pipe thats cut at 12" to make sure there is always water going to the filter.

Or they are never reaching temp, on all the time and overheating. Just throwing out what I think is going on with them, could be anything really though.

Why not try submerging them in the tank instead of the overflow boxes, as an experiment.
If they don't burn out in the tank, then placement in the boxes is the problem.
this. If you are burning out more than 1 that fast I'd bet this fixes the issue.
